Hi! I'm the Chattanooga Cruise Director. My friends call me that because I try to organize fun activities, and am always trying to stay "in the know" about what's going on in my city. I also happen to work in the tourism industry, but that doesn't really give me any inside knowledge. Just a great job. I check out things going on in Chattanooga because I love to be a "tourist" and I just LOVE Chattanooga! Join me as I check out attractions, restaurants, events, and maybe the occasional shop or boutique.
The Tennessee Aquarium
The Tennessee River JourneyWe begin our visit in the River Journey building, which is the original freshwater building. As we go up a two-story escalator (an elevator is available for those who need it), we learn that we will follow the life of a raindrop from the sky to the sea. You can go to the bayou country in the Delta Swamp section and look at all the alligators, ducks, and freshwater fish of the Mississippi. You can watch American otters playing, and look at some of the largest catfish on display in an aquarium (a blue catfish weighing in at 90 pounds.) Terminal BrewhouseRating: We had a friend in from out of town and wanted to de-stress from the week. The restaurant of choice was the Terminal Brewhouse in Downtown Chattanooga next to the Choo Choo. The Terminal is a new local brewery that uses local products as much as possible, and is making a conscious effort to be "green". The atmosphere is very relaxed and great for a group outing, or a casual date. We even saw some people signing papers to close on a house! Southsidenstein StoutWe started with some libations from the bar, and although none of us drink beer, I must point out that I've heard that the beers are as good as their names. My favorite is named Magnum P.A., an India Pale Ale, but there are others named in an equally clever way. (Rock Out with Your Bock Out, Southsidenstein Stout, Terminally Ale) |
